About

GC3library is the new online presence for the Thomas F. Saffell Library located on the campus of Garden City Community College in Garden City, Kansas.

We’re attempting a little something different with this portal; something clean yet interactive, informative yet not bloated.  We decided to blend the blog format with a traditional web page.  It may work.  It may not.  Let us know what you think.

Gosh, I am happy to see an interactive presence for Saffell Library on GCCC’s web page. Keep up the good work!

what does a non-gccc student need in order to check out books from the Saffell library?

    • gc3library

Howdy, all we need from you is a driver’s license (photo id) and something showing your current address and we can easily get you set up in our system to check out materials.

If you have further questions please don’t hesitate to call us at 276-9511.

      Cheers

    Hello,
Does the library carry regular books to read or just books used for papers?
    Thanks,
    Ashley

Yes, Saffell Library does indeed collect leisure reading titles! Here’s a brief sample of authors whose books we’ve recently added to our collection: Stephen King, Nick Hornby, Tom Clancy, John Irving, Philip Roth, Jonathan Lethem, Robert B. Parker, Robin Cook, Michael Critchton, Tess Gerrritsen, Sue Grafton, Thomas Pynchon, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, William Trevor, Sarah Waters, Richard Russo etc….

We even have a “New Releases” section in front of the circulation desk for all the latest fiction and non-fiction titles recently added to our collection. Come on by and have a look. If you have any further questions just give Carol, Kathy, Lisa or myself a holler and we’ll be happy to help!

  5. it would be nice to know the updated hours of the library for the fall and spring semesters… thank you

Thanks for the heads up! (Note to self: remember to hit the “update” button when making changes or they don’t stick.) Cheers.

    Trent,

It’s great to see this approach! What a nice, clean interface.

I’m headed out to Garden City this weekend, but it doesn’t look like I’ll make your open hours. I may peek in the windows on Saturday.

    Your colleague, Micaela

I was wondering if the library has a reel to reel recorder for listening to 3M sound recordings or if there is one available anywhere on campus?

    • Trent Smith

Hi, Tamara, unfortunately Saffell Library does not have a reel to reel recorder and have been unable to locate one on campus.

  8. where is the library located on the campus?

    • Trent Smith

Thomas F. Saffell Library is located at the center of campus, just west of the main Student & Community Services Center. You can find a map of the campus here.
